EpochWise credits
This page names the work of others in EpochWise (EpochWise: Witness Real History): the files, the software, the voice and the sources of the facts. It is free to read, with no login.
- These third-party files keep their own licences. The store terms do not limit your rights under the licences of the third-party material listed here.
- The app pack is not encrypted, so anyone can take the files out of it.
- The developer and publisher is dav3studios.
Store art and trailer
These files are on the store page, not in the app. dav3studios made them from the app's own scenes. The material of others in those scenes is credited under the table.

| EpochWise store art and screenshots. The covers, hero, mini landscape, icon, trailer cover, transparent logo and spatialized icon show Halley's Comet over the ridge at Battle in April 1066, rendered from the app's own halley_1066 scene (tools/store/store_art.py), with the title in Atkinson Hyperlegible Bold (SIL OFL 1.1, in the app). The 8 screenshots in store/art/screenshots/ are the app's own autoshots at 2560 x 1440 (tools/store/store_shots.sh). The terrain of the scenes is survey data of the Environment Agency, Ordnance Survey (OGL v3) and IGN (Licence Ouverte 2.0), credited on the credits page (docs/store/credits_page.md). For the store only, not in the app. | store/art/*.png |

| EpochWise store trailer: recorded with Godot's Movie Maker from the app's own scenes (tools/store/trailer.gd), with the app's own narration voice and music and the CC0 sounds of the scenes. Every sound under CC BY is left out. The terrain and the sounds of others in it are credited on the credits page (docs/store/credits_page.md). Third-party material in the store art and the trailer
The store art and the trailer show the app's own scenes, so they hold the same third-party material as those scenes. These rows credit it with its licence. The trailer leaves out every sound whose licence asks for credit (CC BY).

The real sky
The Sun, Moon and stars are computed by the dav3studios astro pack. Star catalogue: Yale Bright Star Catalogue, 5th revised edition (Hoffleit and Warren 1991), public domain. Star names: IAU Working Group on Star Names (WGSN), https://www.iau.org/public/themes/naming_stars/, CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Changes: 61 names copied next to the catalogue stars, none changed. Halley's Comet uses the orbit published by NASA JPL Horizons (record 90000018). Values were checked against JPL Horizons and the US Naval Observatory.
The words of the past
Quotations come from public-domain editions: the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle translated by J. Ingram (1823); William of Malmesbury translated by J. Sharpe and edited by J. A. Giles (1847); Orderic Vitalis and Henry of Huntingdon translated by T. Forester (1853); Wace translated by A. Malet (1860); J. C. Bruce, The Bayeux Tapestry Elucidated (1856); the diaries of Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn (Project Gutenberg); General Eisenhower's Order of the Day and 'In case of failure' note (US National Archives and Eisenhower Presidential Library, US federal works); Forrest C. Pogue, The Supreme Command (US Army, 1954, a US federal work). The National Curriculum text and the GCSE history subject content are from GOV.UK (Department for Education): contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/). Short quotations from The National Archives and GOV.UK pages are used under the same licence. Short extracts from UK Parliament pages and the official report (Hansard) are Parliamentary copyright. They are used under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0 (https://www.parliament.uk/site-information/copyright-parliament/open-parliament-licence/). Contains Parliamentary information licensed under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0. Changes: none. The extracts are word for word. They are also short quotations with attribution under the UK quotation exception (Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, section 30(1ZA)). Other short quotations from museum, archive and news pages are quoted with attribution under that exception, and each card names its source. One article is quoted under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/): its card names the authors. Changes: none. Quotations are word for word, and any translation is ours and is marked.

Where the facts come from
Each fact in the app names its source on a source card or in its text. We name these web sites as sources only. None of them made, checked or approved the app. A weaker source, such as a wiki, says so in the app.

Our own work
Everything else in the app is our own work: the code, the scenes, the reconstructions, the narration and voice clips (made with the computer voice Kokoro-82M, no person recorded them) and the music (made by a computer program). dav3studios made them.
